I rolled in there as an old fart just one month short of being 69 years of age. I took my number for having blood drawn before my appointment with my female VA doctor one week away. Dr. Shirley T. is going to break my balls next Friday since I still light up a cigarette several times a day but that's not the story here.
An elderly vet who required a walker to be mobile was in the waiting room to see a doctor. He was WWII or maybe Korea as a veteran but he was with a young pretty blond woman in her early 30s. He's in his 80s. When the man was called to see his doctor the young woman said, "That's us, Granpa".
The old man got up to move with his walker while his granddaughter had his arm. She wasn't on a family mission (her turn maybe) to get the old man to the VA - you could tell that she was truly helping a grandfather that she loved dearly. Her eyes told me that she adored this man.
Hey, I got my ass kicked later on at Aqueduct but the love displayed at eight in the morning by the young woman for her grandfather kicked me too.
