Behind the garage were four healthy kittens out of Ginger who were hale and hearty. They were born on April 3rd. They were coming down the driveway to eat with the adult kittens or catch the "leavings". They were all here when their mom Ginger was taken away to be spayed and they were all here when their mother was returned and raced out of the cat carrier to be with them again.

On Monday there were four kittens playing out back on the deck. On Tuesday there were three. On Wednesday there were none. On Thursday there was still none.

Predator? I can't see it. Uniondale, New York hasn't exactly been a place for wild animals bigger than a raccoon for almost a hundred years. My yard is covered on three sides by a 6-foot fence and the adult cats that live here look after the kittens. The momcat Ginger would brawl a grizzly bear to protect her kittens.

Thursday evening? Catty Patty's two kittens are in the garage and walking now. The feral adults are all here but Ginger's four kittens have disappeared. Cattrapper.org is coming back to snag them in a couple weeks for adoption and use drop traps to grab a few more adults for TNR but the four kittens are gone.

I have no idea what happened.

On on Friday morning three kittens were at the side door with their mother Ginger looking for a good breakfast.

And they got it.
